When Life Hands You Lemons...

Throw them at the son of a bitch that's been making your life miserable.

Over the course of a week, I had to pull myself off the Playboy Radio channel, AND I lost my Facebook page. In one case I revealed too much, in the other - not enough. Go figure.

And now to complicate things even further, Audrey threw a curveball at me. It's been almost 2 weeks now that she's been out and left me in charge. By the way I see things, I've managed to hold this place together and nothing has burned down. Yet.

Then she calls me last night and tells me she may not be back in 2 weeks. In fact, she may not be back in February. Her other situations, fiascos and crisis have definitely kept her busy and now it turns out she may not be back till March or April (or maybe never). And I'm in charge till then!!!!

Not like I don't run the place already... It's just that it's extra work and responsibility. And if anything goes wrong, I have no one to blame. But the worst thing is that it happens at a time when I was thinking of maybe cutting back my hours and trying to supplement my income with a "real" job.

Well you know what they say? When fate opens a door, it closes all the rest. They say that, don't they? I always talked about having my own business, I just didn't really want it to be this one!!! I guess that tanning business is gonna have to wait.

So what do you think guys? Golden opportunity or head for the hills?

Sounds like a good opportunity :-) at least for now maybe you could turn half of it into a tanning salon like you wanted!!!

Good Luck!!!

Unless you are given the keys to the Kingdom and it becomes your business, I say, head for the hills.

I feel that it is too much responsibility for an employee who has no rights to ownership.

Just my 2 cents....

I think you should take advantage of the situation. Bypass the book keeping procedures for some of the door fees, and keep them for yourself. Obviously, you can't do it for all of the customers without raising suspicion. But, if you're in charge, and Audrey is not there to keep an eye on things, it's her own damn fault. Call it a temporary pay raise to compensate you for the extra responsibilities that come with being in charge of everything.

I'm all for you making the most of it by giving yourself a bit of a pay increase. If you don't want to do that I say walk away becausue no sense in taking on extra responsibility for free.

I say go ahead and work as much as you can now, because as soon as you get back, Audry is going to screw you later on.

"Make hay while the sun is out" I always say.

tell audrey you want a raise bc you are being handed way more responsibilities.

I think you should stop bitching about working when millions of people don't have jobs.

I agree that if you stick with it, you deserve a pay increase.

Carolyn,
If I had my way, I really would add another tanning bed or two. But the place isn't mine (yet).

Joker,
That's what Trina and Cindy both told me. But they also agree that I'm waaaaaaay more fair with the schedule, so they're happy with me.

Anon & mnwhr,
I know that sounds easy to do, but there's just something in me that says that's totally wrong. No matter how much of a bitch Audrey is, plane stealing is just not me.

Stealing planes is probably a federal crime. =)

Seriously, taking over someone's business, steering it in a different direction than what they intended, or stealing their customers... all this crap is highly unethical and bad karma (just watch Scarface again!).

Someone gives you responsibilities? Learn skills and test yourself, then take that baggage and go fly with your own wings. Because working for other people always suck. But stealing ain't ever right, even from thieves.
